Dublin’s Human Rights and Poverty Commemorationadmin-MAC
“Wherever men and women are condemned to live in poverty, human rights are violated. To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty.”
On Friday, 19 February 2016 to mark the World Day for Social Justice an information plaque was unveiled at the Social Justice and Poverty Stone on Customs House Quay. The Lord Mayor Criona Ni Dhalaigh, the director of Social Justice Ireland, Sean Healy, the Deputy Ambassador of France, Philippe Fay and Seanie Lambe of the 17 October Committee did the honours. There were powerful testimonies from people who struggle with the violence of poverty.
This inauguration is timely, as it takes place one year before the 30th anniversary of the first Human Rights and Poverty stone having been laid in Paris.
