World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation

Friday, September 1st is World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, celebrated by the Orthodox Church since 1989 and by the Catholic Church since 2015. It is also the beginning of the Season of Creation, which ends on October 4th, the feast day of St. Francis. On Friday, take a moment to appreciate and give thanks for God’s gifts of nature. Holocaust Memorial Service 2017

January 26 2017 | 7.30 pm – 9.00 pm Join us to remember the millions of people who have died or whose lives have been changed beyond recognition during the Holocaust and in subsequent genocides. On this evening we will honour the survivors of these regimes and challenge ourselves to use the lessons of their experience to inform our lives today. Veritas Publications at the Margaret Aylward Centre

On Thursday, 9 July 2015 Veritas Publications celebrated the publication of Laudato Si’: On Care For Our Common Home at the Margaret Aylward Centre for Faith and Dialogue. This eagerly anticipated document on the environment is an important read, not just for Catholics, but for anyone interested in the environment. Association for Church Archives AGM 2015

The AGM of the Association for Church Archives was held in the Margaret Aylward Centre on Saturday 9 May 2015. Almost 60 archivists attended to listen to three presentations on policy making and their practical application. The speakers were Dr Elizabeth Mullins, School of History & Archives UCD, Damien Burke, Irish Jesuit Archives and Vera Orschel, Sisters of St Louis Archives. Don Bosco Care Staff at the Margaret Aylward Centre.

Don Bosco Care provides Residential Care and Aftercare for 32 boys aged 10 – 21 years at 6 houses across north Dublin. These young people are referred to us for care because it is unsafe for them to live with their families. We also provide an Outreach aftercare service to 60 boys and girls who have moved or are moving from care to independence. The Christmas Eve Truce 1914

A talk on the Christmas Eve Truce 1914 took place at Margaret Aylward centre for Faith and Dialogue on Monday 15th December 2014. The talk was given by Don Mullan, a long term campaigner for justice, non-violence and reconciliation. Originally from Derry, Don was a child witness to the awful events of Bloody Sunday 1972, in which 13 unarmed people lost their lives while participating in a civil rights demonstration in Derry.
