Holocaust: A Key Learning From The Holocaust With Thérèse Fitzgerald

A Key Learning From The Holocaust … How We Treat Others And Ourselves …

11 February 2020 | 7.30-9.00pm |  Cost: Donation €5

One backdrop to the Holocaust was the negative way in which the ‘other’ was perceived. This led to and was reinforced by stereotypes and prejudices. The labels that were placed on others made discrimination more ‘convenient’. Labels diminished other people and, we know from history, they also diminish the person doing the labelling.

How does knowing this influence how we relate to others and to ourselves?

Where is my developmental edge in terms of how I relate?

How might I support myself in being more loving and compassionate towards others and towards myself?

Thérèse Fitzgerald is a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion. In her work as a counsellor she facilitates people in their personal development and integration. Her other key involvement is in Biblical studies and she holds an MA in this field. She offers a supportive environment in which participants can engage with, and find meaning in, the Biblical texts. She is especially interested in how engagement with the text enhances personal insight and how this, in turn, nourishes relationships with others and with God.
