An invitation to learn folk and traditional songs about inclusion, community, family and hope

Singing is part of who we are, so its good to learn songs together.

This is an informal workshop with a focus on learning songs that have tradition but are perhaps new to the participants.

This series will focus on positive songs that unite and offer uplifting themes – for example Bread and Roses (from the James Oppenheim poem) … and maybe a few funny songs too!

Noirin, as facilitator, introduces each song, sings it once and then invites the group to sing it twice together (muted). At the start of each following session we run through the previous songs to encourage people to keep singing them! This course has run twice very successfully and participants end up with emailed copies of all lyrics and info on songs.

All welcome – an interest in songs is more important than being technically a good singer for this course! The aim is that everyone finds at least one great song to sing from the experience.

Noirin is the Director of the Margaret Aylward Centre for Faith and Dialogue in Glasnevin.
