Moving Into Holy Week Through Art With Vivienne Keely

In the first part of our session, we view about 10 works of art associated with the Passion of Jesus according to John – this is the Gospel we use on Good Friday. These works are drawn from several media – sculpture, painting, stained glass – and traverse medieval to modern times. Then we move to a reflective reading of the Passion narrative, punctuated by moments of silence as we view the related art work.

An ideal preparation for Holy Week.

Vivienne Keely, a Holy Faith Sister, is from Glasnevin and spent over three decades in Australia where she taught medieval history at the Catholic Institute of Sydney and St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological college. She was actively involved in Christian-Muslim dialogue and co-authored a booklet on Catholic-Islam relations.
