FreeSummer in Glasnevin #2 – Tour of Convent Chapel

Summer in Glasnevin #2: Wednesday, 9 September | 7.00 -8.00pm
Tour of Convent Chapel
Tour of convent chapel and optional extra tour of Glasnevin House, Georgian rooms. Offers a two-part insight into the architectural highlights of the convent in Glasnevin
Part One: Duration approx. 30 minutes, showcases the work of Dublin craftsmen around 1900 when the convent chapel was built. We see the work of sculptors, picture-framers, wood-carvers, stained-glass window artists, and are let into the subterfuge designed to make the paintings of the Stations of the Cross look older than they were.
Part Two: is an optional extra for those who have not visited the Georgian building, built c. 1750. We see the breathtaking plaster-work of the ceilings in the reception rooms, the original timber floors, and the magnificent staircase.
