The Season of Creation is marked throughout the Christian world each year from 1 September until the feast of St Francis of Assisi on 4 October. It celebrates the joy of creation as well as encouraging awareness-raising initiatives to protect the natural environment. Drawing inspiration from Psalm 19 which declares ‘their voice is not heard; yet their voice goes out through all the Earth and their words to the end of the world’, the theme this years is   ‘Listen to the Voice of Creation’. Embracing this theme, the Margaret Alyward Centre is hosting a number of events during the Season of Creation. On 9 September at 11.00am ‘ We Have Forgotten Who We Are’ aims to help us rediscover our place in the web of life and to look upon the natural world with renewed and kinder eyes. On September 22 we will celebrate  the Autumnal Equinox recognising  God in cosmic events. Finally on October 1 we will be hosting ‘A Blessing of the Animals’ where you will be invited to bring along a photo or momento of an animal companion who enriches or has enriched your life. We will give thanks for the gift of their friendship  remembering that we share this earth with all the living beings created by God and  whom God  saw  were good.
