Advent is about waiting and listening in order that we may hear the Divine whisper that contains the promise of something more. This is always an adventure that keeps us on tiptoe in our spirits. So let’s wait and listen and share together at this special time of promise and hope. Guided by Ruth, the day will provide space for interaction as well as time for quiet reflection and prayer.
Ruth Patterson OBE was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in 1976, the first woman to be ordained in any denomination in Ireland. She has been the Director of Restoration Ministries since 1991. It is a non-denominational Christian organisation committed to healing, reconciliation and peacemaking.
For more than 13 years, she was minister in Kilmakee Presbyterian Church, Dunmurry, and in 1991 she began work with Restoration Ministries full-time. In 2001, she was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Presbyterian Church, and in 2003 she was appointed OBE for her services to reconciliation work. She has written several books and numerous articles on peace and reconciliation as well as annual scripture guidelines for Faith and Friendship.
